I feel this quote by Dr. Richard P. Feynman is a fitting way to start this section of the blog and create my regular 'goodbye' statement, because there is the possibility of beauty through amazement in everywhere and of everything. Both in the face value and function of things. In the life sciences, there are areas that are less likely to be generically 'beautiful' but there is always something to learn and be awestruck about.
There is beauty everywhere in the world. This beauty isn’t just through the appearance of something. In science, there is also beauty in how something works. It’s easy to see the outward appearance and beauty of a flower, but what about the beauty in what colours are chosen, or how the flower is able to protect itself from microbes or attract animals so that it can pollinate or spread its seeds somewhere else? These things that lead to questions for the inquisitive mind are also beautiful, though they may be less obvious to the untrained eye. In these ways, Science is as beautiful as Art.

I love this quote from the book. I haven't read the book all the way through yet (stay tuned for a blog post about that!) but I am excited to continue through the journey of Dr. Feynman's mind as presented in this book.
I am intrigued at the thought of research biographies and am looking for more! If you have a recommendation I would love for you to comment, e-mail, or find me on Facebook and Instagram @cellsmicrobesimmunity
Remember to take breaks for inspiration and step back from the books and your research to look at the awe and beauty of life sciences and their functions. See beauty everywhere!
